God is Power—
Infinite,
Irresistible,
Inexorable,
Indifferent.
And yet, God is Pliable—
Trickster,
Teacher,
Chaos,
Clay.
God exists to be shaped.
God is Change.
∞ = Δ
La Divinité est puissance
Illimité,
Irresistible,
Inexorable,
Indifférent.
Pourtant, la Divinité est pliable –
Filou,
Instituteur,
Chaos,
Argile.
La Divinité existe pour façonner:
La Divinité est le changement.
Puissance vs. Pouvoir
There are other possibilities here (force); but puissance seems to be the free of the connotations of authority that go with pouvoir, therefore, more fitting here, I think.
Illimité vs. Infini
The closer cognate seems to be more mathematical in French, whereas it seems both metaphorical and mathematical in English, so I went with the sense that I think is at work in English, rather than the cognate.
Filou / Trickster
Trickster is actually accepted in French, but I went with the French word, filou, which also has the connotation of a mischievous child, an image that is also at work, for example, in Creation, by James Weldon Johnson.
Instituteur
Here I chose the word that suggests a primary school teacher. I prefer the assonance with inexorable, and indifferent, as well the elemental aspect of teaching and learning which is suggested by this word, rather than the more generic enseignant.
